The model features a 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine and a redesigned exterior. The LandCruiser 300 Series offers two flagship variants, the Sahara ZX, focusing on luxury, and the off-road-ready GR Sport. Both models join the existing GX, GXL, VX, and Sahara variants.
The 3.3-litre V6 engine produces 227kW at 4000rpm and 700Nm from 1600-2600rpm, a significant increase over the outgoing V8. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise, vibration, and harshness. Fuel consumption has been reduced by 6.3%, bringing it to 8.9L/100km.
The vehicle’s construction incorporates lightweight materials, including aluminium for the bonnet, roof, doors, and rear hatch, resulting in weight savings and an increased payload by up to 90kg depending on the variant. The LandCruiser retains its 3500kg braked towing capacity and comes standard with a tow wiring harness.
Power is delivered to all four wheels, with a newly developed transfer case that reduces shift times between high and low range by 28% and includes a lockable center differential. The 300 Series also debuts the multi-terrain select (MTS) control system with six different modes for off-road driving.

The driver and passenger seats are upholstered in leather and offer ample support for long-distance travel. The seats are well-cushioned and spacious, accommodating various body types. Heating and cooling functions are available, with automatic settings based on the climate control system.
The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, and the driver’s display includes analogue dials and a color trip computer that displays off-road data, speed, or fuel economy. Despite these features, the vehicle does not offer a fully digital dashboard, which is available in some lower-priced Toyota models.
The dashboard design features a logical layout with easy-to-use controls, though the differential lock buttons are located near the driver’s left knee rather than grouped with other off-road controls. The vehicle includes a cool box beneath the central armrest, large door pockets, and a wireless phone charger integrated into the transmission tunnel.
The second row offers dual USB-C charge points, a fold-down central armrest, air vents, and separate climate control. The upright design and large windows provide a panoramic view, with excellent headroom and decent legroom, though the high floor can make the seating position less comfortable for taller passengers. The middle seat is best suited for smaller occupants due to the raised center hump.
There is no third row in the GR Sport, but the second row can be folded forward to increase the available cargo space. The LandCruiser 300 Series provides a commanding view over its scalloped bonnet and handles its size adeptly in city driving. The twin-turbo V6 engine starts quietly, settles into a smooth idle, and delivers consistent low-end responses without the typical lag seen in some small turbocharged engines. The engine's power delivery is linear, offering precise throttle control, which is particularly useful in traffic and for managing torque on off-road trails.
The vehicle is equipped with light steering and offers decent visibility, making it easier to navigate through urban environments. The available camera system, though not cutting-edge, assists with visibility around the vehicle. The 10-speed automatic transmission, when engaged, delivers strong acceleration, especially during highway overtaking. The V6 engine, despite replacing the previous V8, has proven to be effective, maintaining performance within the peak torque band of 1600 to 2600rpm.
