The Mazda CX-30 was as popular as ever in May, posting its strongest monthly sales result ever with 1471 units delivered.
With growth of 246.1 per cent compared to May 2020 (425 units), the Mazda 3-based crossover managed second place in the SUV Small category, losing out to the MG ZS range (incl. ZST and ZS EV) which saw 1605 registrations.
That means the CX-30 outsold segment favourites like the Hyundai Kona (1400 units), Mitsubishi ASX (1202 units) and Kia Seltos (1118 units).
Of the 1471 deliveries in May, the strongest variant was the base G20 Pure, accounting for 27.1 per cent of sales last month. The mid-spec Touring line (incl. G20 and G25 engine variants) wasn’t far behind with 21.1 per cent.
Mazda Australia confirmed front-wheel drive variants made up the bulk of CX-30 sales, with a share of 90.6 per cent in May. Further, 2.0-litre ‘G20’ variants accounted for 73.4 per cent of last month’s volume.
The CX-30 just missed out on being Mazda’s second best-seller in the local line-up, not far behind the smaller CX-3 (1533 units) but well off the larger CX-5 (2768 units).
It also outsold the related Mazda 3 small car by a significant margin (1031 units) though the passenger car equivalent still leads year-to-date (5519 versus 6554).
Elsewhere in the Mazda line-up, the CX-8 large SUV also set another all-time monthly sales record with 708 units (+231.6 per cent) delivered in May, also marking four consecutive months of growth (+213.2 per cent YTD).
