Kia Australia has increased the recommended retail pricing and/or national drive-away pricing on around half the models it sells in Australia as of January 1, 2023.
All the vehicles affected in this particular price adjustment had their before on-road costs and/or national drive-away price increased by between $300 and $1500, depending on the model and variant.
These models include the Picanto, Rio, Cerato, Stinger, Stonic, and Sportage.
A Kia Australia spokesperson confirmed this price adjustment came into effect on January 1 this year, citing “cost of business reasons”. This likely includes rising inflation and shipping costs as factors.
The spokesperson also confirmed there have been no specification changes to the affected models.
The Kia models that didn’t receive a price increase in this latest round are the Seltos, Sorento, Carnival, Niro and EV6, as well as the fleet-focused Niro Plus.
This latest price increase follows a very similar rise across almost the entire range that was conducted early last year. It also bumped the pricing of the EV6 up by $4600 in the middle of 2022.
One of the smaller price rises for this round is the Picanto. The entry-level S manual has received a before on-road costs price increase of $300, meaning the range now starts at $16,290 before on-road costs.
The vehicle with the largest price increase is the soon-to-be-discontinued Stinger, with a price rise of $1500. It now starts at $52,750 before on-road costs for the 200S, and extends to $66,490 before on-roads for the GT.
Kia isn’t alone in upping its prices in Australia. Many brands, including BMW, Volkswagen, and Audi recently announced almost range-wide price increases from January 1, 2023.
The updated 2023 pricing for the affected Kia models is as follows:
Picanto
Rio
Cerato
Hatch and sedan models are offered at the same price.
Stinger
Stonic
Sportage
Drive-away pricing for the MY23 Sportage varies from state-to-state.
All prices exclude on-road costs unless specified otherwise.
