Volkswagen Australia has increased prices on the majority of its passenger and commercial vehicles.
Before on-road costs have increased by between $240 and $1500, with affected models including the Polo, Golf, Passat, Arteon, T-Cross, T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, Touareg, Caddy, Caravelle, Multivan, California Beach, Transporter, and Crafter.
“Shippings costs certainly aren’t diminishing. For as long as possible we shielded customers from associated price rises,” said a Volkswagen Australia spokesperson.
“We do not allow orders made prior to the designated increase date to be subject to an extra impost.”
Arteon
This is the third time Volkswagen has increased the asking price of the majority of its range within the last 12 months, following increases in June and January last year.
Volkswagen did cut the prices on some models, which were losing features such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert due to global semiconductor chip shortages, by up to $1300 in September last year.
One of the smaller price rises for this round is the the T-Cross light SUV. The entry-level T-Cross Life received an increase of $240, meaning the range now starts at $30,990 before on-road costs.
The vehicle with the largest price increase is the Tiguan R, which has had its price rise by $1500. This model now starts at $70,490 before on-road costs.
Touareg
Models that aren’t included in this particular round of price rises include the T-Roc and Tiguan R Grid Edition, Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace Monochrome, Tiguan Allspace Adventure, and the soon-to-be-replaced Amarok ute.
The latter of these models are set to be replaced by a new, Ford Ranger-based generation that’s set to arrive locally at the end of quarter one 2023.
