Volkswagen
The Volkswagen Group regularly vies with Toyota for the honour of being the world’s largest carmaker and its biggest brand Volkswagen (also called VW) is part of massive stable that also includes Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Ducati, as well as Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Cupra and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
The Volkswagen brand alone offers a range of passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles, and key nameplates include the popular Polo and Golf hatchbacks. In Australia, where the long-running Passat and the relatively new Arteon flagship sedan were discontinued by the end of 2024, VW's top-selling model is the Amarok pickup.
Other popular VW models include the T-Cross, T-Roc, Tiguan and Touareg SUVs, and the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter vans, while the German giant's EV choices include the ID.4 and ID.5 mid-size SUVs, the ID.Buzz electric people-mover and ID.Buzz Cargo van and - from 2025 - the ID.3 electric hatch.
