The new-generation MG ZS is arriving in showrooms this month, but the all-new small SUV will initially be available only with hybrid power.
The ZS Hybrid+ will be offered in two variants, with the Excite initially available at $33,990 drive-away and the Essence priced at $36,990 drive-away.
UPDATE, 22/11/2024 – Our launch review of the MG ZS is now live. You can read it here.
MG hasn’t confirmed when this promotional pricing will end. The before on-roads price for the Excite is $33,990, while for the Essence it’s $36,990, which means MG is effectively waiving on-road costs, at least for now.

Petrol-powered ZS variants will follow in the first quarter of 2025, while a replacement for the current ZS EV is due to arrive in 2025.
The new ZS range will replace the current ZS and ZST, and will finally offer a hybrid powertrain to take on the likes of the Hyundai Kona Hybrid. The outgoing model offered a hybrid powertrain, but only in markets like Thailand.
The ZS Hybrid+ uses the same hybrid system as the MG 3, and also shares its platform with the hatchback.
It mates a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and three-speed hybrid transmission up front, plus a hybrid control unit and 1.83kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery at the rear.
Total system outputs are 158kW and 465Nm, 3kW more than the MG 3.
The styling has a distinct familial resemblance to the new MG 3 and HS up front, while like those models both ZS Hybrid+ variants feature a full suite of active safety technology.
