2022 Volkswagen T-Cross price and specs

Volkswagen’s entry-level SUV, the T-Cross, has received another price increase.

UPDATE, 04/05/2022 – Volkswagen Australia is increasing the price of the T-Cross range by an additional $900 from June 1, 2022, as part of a wider range price increase.

“Unfortunately due to global increases in production, supplier and transport costs, certain models will have an increased RRP from June 1, 2022,” said a Volkswagen Australia spokesperson in a statement.

“We strive to ensure that any cost increase is absorbed or – where it cannot be – kept to a minimum.”

The $900 price hike from June 1, 2022 comes after Volkswagen increased prices by between $650 and $700 earlier this year. No spec changes were made at this time.

This was subsequent to a $710-810 increase, announced late last year, which brought some additional equipment.

Both the Life and Style received DAB digital radio, which is being rolled out across every 2022 Volkswagen model line.

The base Life also received paddle shifters and power-folding mirrors.

The T-Cross is one of the few Volkswagen models not experiencing supply issues at the moment. Despite its tiny model range, it’s also proving to be one of the most popular models in the light SUV segment.

To the end of August, Volkswagen has sold 4312 examples. That puts it ahead of the Ford Puma (2323) and Nissan Juke (1646), and behind only the indomitable Mazda CX-3 (10,679), Toyota Yaris Cross (5406), and cheaper Kia Stonic (4880).

Engines

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Cross is available exclusively with a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque. It’s mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

All T-Cross models are front-wheel drive.

The claimed 0-100km/h time is 10.2 seconds.

Fuel Economy

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Cross uses 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle. It requires 95RON premium unleaded fuel and has a 40L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Cross measures 4108mm long, 1583mm tall, and 1760mm wide on a 2563mm wheelbase.

Cargo volume measures 455L, expanding to 1281L with the rear seats folded.

Servicing and Warranty

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Cross is covered by Volkswagen’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

It requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

Volkswagen offers three- and five-year servicing plans. The three-year plan costs $1100, while the five-year plan costs $1850.

Safety

The Volkswagen T-Cross has a five-star rating from ANCAP, based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2019.

The T-Cross received an adult protection score of 97 per cent, a child occupant protection score of 85 per cent, a pedestrian protection score of 81 per cent, and a safety assist score of 80 per cent.

All 2022 T-Cross models come standard with the following safety equipment:
