Volvo Australia raises prices on most models

Volvo Car Australia has increased the list prices on almost all of its models.

UPDATE, 06/02/2023 at 3:35PM – Volvo Car Australia has responded and we’ve updated this story with its statement about the price rise.

All the vehicles affected in this particular price increase have had their before on-road asking price increased by between $500 and $4000, depending on the model and variant.

“During 2022 we, together with the whole industry and others have faced a number of hurdles an example of these being the cost of raw materials and logistics, and as a result needed to realign pricing,” said a Volvo Car Australia spokesperson.

The Volvo models included in this price increase include the XC40, C40, XC60, XC90, S60 and V60 Cross Country.

Only two variants of the XC60 range have remained the same price. These are the XC60 Plus B5, and XC60 Ultimate B5.

The smallest price rise was for the entry-level XC40 models. They are up by $500, which means the range now starts at $53,490 before on-road costs for the Plus B4.

The vehicle with the largest price increase was the XC90 Recharge Ultimate B8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with a rise of $4000. It now starts at $125,990 before on-road costs.

Volvo isn’t alone in raising the prices on the majority of its range. Many brands, including Toyota, Kia, BMW, Volkswagen, and Audi announced almost range-wide price increases from January 1, 2023.

Beyond this price increase, Volvo Cars Australia has confirmed updated versions of the XC40 and C40 Recharge are coming to Australia, but exact timing hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The updated 2023 pricing for affected Volvo models is as follows:

XC40

• XC40 Plus B4: $53,490 (+$500)
• XC40 Ultimate B4 Bright: $60,490 (+$500)
• XC40 Ultimate B5 Dark: $64,990 (+$1000)
• XC40 Recharge Pure Electric: $73,990 (+$1000)
• XC40 Recharge Twin Pure Electric: $81,490 (+$2000)

C40

• C40 Recharge: $75,990 (+$1000)
• C40 Recharge Twin: $83,490 (+$1000)

XC60

• XC60 Ultimate B6 Dark: $86,990 (+$1000)
• XC60 Recharge Ultimate T8 PHEV: $101,990 (+$1000)

XC90

• XC90 Plus B5: $95,990 (+$3000)
• XC90 Ultimate B6 Bright: $105,990 (+$3000)
• XC90 Ultimate B6 Dark: $107,990 (+$3000)
• XC90 Recharge Ultimate T8 PHEV: $125,990 (+$4000)

S60

• S60 Ultimate B5 Bright: $66,990 (+$1000)

V60 Cross Country
