Mazda Australia has recalled 5257 examples of its 2024 CX-60 and CX-90 large SUVs, owing to a power steering fault.
The Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 are the brand’s first two SUVs based on its new ‘Large Product Group’ platform, which also underpins the upcoming CX-70 and CX-80.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the gear set within the power steering assembly may not operate as intended. As a result, the driver could experience unexpected increased steering effort,” Mazda said in its recall notice.
“An unexpected increased effort in power steering whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Owners of affected CX-60s and CX-90s have been told they will be contacted in writing by Mazda Australia when parts are available, to have the work carried out at their preferred dealership, free of charge.
