Mazda CX-60
About the Mazda CX-60
Last updated Jun 07, 2024The 2023 Mazda CX-60 is the most luxurious SUV from the Japanese brand and will be offered as a petrol, diesel and plug-in electric hybrid model.
Mazda’s ambition with the CX-60 is to compete head-to-head with German’s premium SUV set, the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5. This gives a good indication of the intent of hte CX-60 in terms of not only design but also luxury offering.
There’s a lot to like about the Mazda CX-60, if you can justify the price. The first models will arrive in April 2023.

Interior
The interior aims to deliver on the idea of being a true luxury alternative to the Germans with premium materials and a focus on fit and finish.
Based on what we have seen so far, the interior feels like a step up from Mazda’s current offerings. We aren’t huge fans of the design of the doors and centre console; it doesn’t really scream premium and lacks the refinement and feel of some German equivalents.
The Takumi specification Mazda showed at the CX-60’s global reveal featured a white interior with maple wood, along with a fabric dashboard with Kakenui stitching. It looks amazing in pictures and we can’t wait to see it in person.
Outside of those materials, the rest of the interior feels high-class and premium. Soft-touch materials along the dashboard, centre console, and door trims mean high-frequency touch points are adequately covered.
Second-row passengers get to experience the same level of quality as the fronts, with no real skimping on materials. Sometimes manufacturers will cheap out on the second row because they think nobody will notice. That means soft-touch materials along the door, decent storage within the doors, and a decent central arm rest with cupholders.

Indicative service pricing for the 2023 Mazda CX-60 with the 3.3-litre inline-six petrol $1400 over three years and $2800 over five years.

How it Drives
The options for powertrain in the 2023 Mazda CX-60 come from a range of three engines which are available on all trims levels.
The 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine produces 209kW of power and 450Nm of torque. Mazda claims models with this engine equipped can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds.
The 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six diesel engine produces 187kW and 500Nm of torque. Mazda claims models with this engine equipped can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds.
Both of these 3.3-litre inline-six engines are mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system and have engine idle stop/start.
The flagship engine in the 2023 Mazda CX-60 range is the 2.5-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) which has a total system output of 241kW and 500Nm. It’s the first Mazda PHEV, and the brand’s most powerful road-going model to date.
The PHEV powertrain comprises a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a 100kW electric motor and a 17.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Mazda claims models with this setup equipped can do the 100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.
All engines are combined with a newly-developed eight-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent through a new rear-biased all-wheel drive system with Normal, Sport, Off-Road, Towing and EV (PHEV only) drive modes.
