    Ford Transit Custom recalled

Ford is recalling its new-generation Transit Custom as a software issue may cause one of the active safety features to not work properly.

Ford has issued a recall for the new-generation Transit Custom shortly after local deliveries began.

“Due to a software issue within the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) the Lane Change Warning Assist (LCWA) feature may not operate as intended,” the company says in its recall notice.

“As a result, there is an increased chance of a collision with another vehicle.

“A loss of LCWA feature could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Many of the affected vehicles had yet to be delivered to customers.

“Ford Australia issued a stop-ship notice for the new Ford Transit Custom, which has now been lifted, in order to rectify a software issue with the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM),” a Ford Australia spokesperson told CarExpert.

“Around 50 vehicles were sold prior to the stop-ship being submitted, and these customers will be contacted by their dealer to have rectification work completed.”

    • A total of 1117 vehicles are affected

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Ford Australia dealership to have the vehicle rectified, free of charge.
