Anyone buying a new Cupra will need to fork out for servicing from the end of March.
Having launched Down Under with three years of free servicing across its range, the Spanish subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group will charge customers $990 for a three-year maintenance pack from March 31, 2023.
That price applies to the Ateca, Formentor, Leon, and incoming Born EV.
Cupra Formentor
A five-year service pack on the Born will set you back $1590, while five years of maintenance on petrol-only and plug-in hybrid models is priced at $1990.
That makes service pricing for the Cupra range similar to that of its corporate siblings at Skoda.
Non-performance versions of the Octavia and Karoq are cheaper to maintain over three years, with a Skoda service pack priced at $800, but the Octavia RS which shares its engine with the mid-range Leon and Formentor VZ is pricier to maintain than its Cupra cousins over five years ($2600 v $1990).
Cupra Leon
Cupra launched locally in the middle of 2022. Brand director Ben Wilks says it’s taken more than 2100 orders since that point, and is closing in on 500 pre-orders for the Born EV.
It also earlier this month confirmed it has high-end VZ and VZx versions of the Formentor, along with the Ateca VZx, ready to be delivered “within a few weeks” of someone making an online order.
That’s despite severe shortages of VW R models with similar powertrains.
