BMW is recalling 49 vehicles across eight nameplates because of a brake booster fault.
“Due to a manufacturing fault in the hydraulic unit brake booster, panic braking could cause loss of brake power assistance and the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) without prior warning,” the company says in its recall notice.
“Although the electronic brake force distribution function is maintained, the loss of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) may result in reduced braking performance.
“The reduction in breaking performance could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users. In the event of a serious accident, this may result in death.”
The recall affects the previous-generation M3 sedan and M4 coupe, plus the 7 Series, X5 and X5 M, X6 and X7.
Also affected are the 8 Series in convertible and coupe variants, and the sportier M8 in coupe and Gran Coupe body styles.

- Vehicles were available for sale from July 27, 2019 to November 23, 2020
