Development of the all-electric Ram 1500 REV has been cancelled, leaving Stellantis without a competitor to the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV.
In a short statement this weekend, Ram confirmed it decided stopped development on full-size 1500 REV (below) “as demand for full-size battery-electric trucks slows in North America”.
Today’s cancellation followed a series of delays for the full-size EV pickup, the last of which occurred in March this year when the Ram stated it would no longer develop a long-range version of the 1500 REV with a 229kWh battery pack and up to 805km (500 miles) of range.

At the time, Ram was still committed to launching standard range model with a 168kWh battery and 560km of range in 2026, two years later than originally planned.
Unveiled at the 2023 New York motor show, the Ram 1500 REV was envisaged to be a dual-motor all-wheel drive pickup truck with a total of 488kW and 841Nm, and capable of spring from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
Although the all-electric 1500 REV is no more, the nameplate will be use for the planned extended range electric vehicle (EREV) version of the 1500, which was unveiled in late 2023 and was originally badged as Ramcharger (below).
The Ramcharger has a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 under the bonnet. The V6 doesn’t drive the wheels, though, it acts as a generator to recharge the 92kWh battery that’s located under the floor.
Ram is aiming for a combined range of 1110km, with the car supporting DC fast charging up to 145kW. An onboard power panel in the tub can provide up to 7.2kW, allowing you to power appliances and power tools.
There’s an electric motor for each axle: 250kW at the front and 238kW for the rear. Total output is 487kW and 834Nm, which is said to translate to a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) time of 4.0 seconds. Towing capacity is claimed to be 6350kg, and the a payload figure is 1190kg.
A launch date for the extended range 1500 REV has yet to be confirmed, but the imagery accompanying Ram’s short press release has the car labelled as a 2026 model, meaning it will likely be launched some time this year.
While Ford and GM each have electric pick up trucks, neither offers a plug-in hybrid or extended range EV model, meaning Ram will corner that part of the market, at least until Volkswagen’s Scout begins production of its Terra ute.
