The 2025 Volkswagen ID.5 will arrive mid-year at a $3000 premium above its more conservatively styled ID.4 sibling.

On February 28, Volkswagen confirmed the new all-wheel drive ID.5 GTXmid-size electric performance SUV ‘coupe’ will be priced from $72,990 before on-road costs.

Now, it has confirmed the cheaper rear-wheel drive ID.5 Pro will be priced at $62,990 before on-road costs. That makes it $3000 more than the related ID.4 Pro.
The GTX brings a $1500 saving on the mechanically identical Cupra Tavascan VZ, however, the ID.5 GTX’s price is just $500 more than the updated Tesla Model Y Long Range, which can accelerate faster and run longer on a single charge.
First customer deliveries of the ID.5 are due to begin in July 2025, following another delay for the German brand’s first electric SUV in Australia and its ID.4 twin.
The ID.5 was initially due on sale here in the second quarter of 2024, then the fourth quarter (October to December), then by Christmas 2024, before the most recent timing of March 2025. In February, Volkswagen confirmed the SUVs were due mid-year.
While the ID.4 is designed more like a traditional SUV, the ID.5’s rear-end is more rakish.

The Volkswagen ID.5 is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty in Australia.

The Volkswagen ID.5 has not yet been issued an Australian safety rating by ANCAP, however, it achieved a five-star result in New Zealand and Europe after testing conducted on the ID.4 in 2021 by Euro NCAP.
