Ineos
The Ineos Automotive brand might be relatively new, but what led to the creation of the Grenadier wagon and Grenadier Quartermaster ute is nothing short of extraordinary.
Following the departure of the old Land Rover Defender in its tough, original ladder-chassis form, the gap in the market for a fully capable off-road vehicle that also feels at home in the city - and one which you can hose the mud out of - was left to British billionaire and chemical engineer, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The original idea was to simply buy the tooling and other manufacturing products from Land Rover to allow the startup British brand to continue producing the Defender, but what was then conceived at the Grenadier pub in London - making it a case of ‘we can do it better ourselves' - became the Ineos Grenadier.
