A bizarre incident in the US has seen a man who attempted to steal a Chevrolet Corvette become trapped inside the sports car, allowing its owner to hold him captive until police arrived.
Miami news service Local 10 reports the Corvette’s owner, Julio Solano, returned to his vehicle to find Ravesh Rabindranauth inside, struggling to get out.
In a brief exchange, Mr Rabindranauth pleads with Mr Solano to let him out of the Corvette.

While it’s not clear how the would-be thief gained access to the Corvette, its electronic door handles only work when the keys are present, effectively trapping him inside as he wasn’t aware of its under-seat manual door release.
Mr Solano subsequently called the police who arrested Mr Rabindranauth and charged him with one count of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
It’s not the only time someone’s become trapped in a General Motors vehicle thanks to electronically activated door handles.
A 2018 incident saw a Cadillac XLR owner unable to open the convertible’s doors due to a flat battery. He was trapped inside for 14 hours.
Similar incidents have also impacted other Corvette owners, with one such incident tragically resulting in the death of a man and his dog who’d become trapped on a hot day.
