Volkswagen Tayron: Reveal date set for Tiguan Allspace replacement

Volkswagen is set to slot a new SUV in between its mid-sized Tiguan and large Touareg, and it’s coming to Australia.

The Tiguan Allspace will be replaced in markets such as Europe and Australia with the Tayron, which uses a name previously applied to a Chinese-market Volkswagen SUV.

Volkswagen will reveal the Tayron on October 10, 2024 at 10am Central European Time (6pm AEST).

It’s expected to arrive here during the second half of 2025.

Local information such as specifications and pricing will be revealed closer to its arrival.

Last month, what’s expected to be the Tayron – wearing Tayron L badging – was revealed through a filing on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), looking similar to the new-generation Tiguan but featuring a longer body.

As expected of a Tiguan Allspace replacement, there’ll be three rows of seating available depending on the market.

While we haven’t seen the interior yet, we expect the cabin to be largely carried over from the Tiguan.

It’s expected the Tayron will also share the Tiguan’s drivetrain options, which includes 48-volt mild-hybrids, plug-in hybrids and traditional petrol-only engines.

Volkswagen is reportedly set to produce the Tayron in Germany, aligning it with the Tiguan. The current Tiguan Allspace is built in Mexico, while the new Tayron L – like the outgoing Tayron – will be built in China for Chinese consumption.
