Skoda could be on its way to set a new sales record in 2021.
The Czech subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group started the new year strong with 901 sales – an increase of 66.9 per cent over January 2020. It’s the brand’s strongest monthly sales result in Australia, ever.
All of Skoda’s model lines grew bar the Octavia – with the exception of the Kamiq and Scala as it’s their first full year on sale.

Spearheading the Skoda brand’s growth was the all-new Kamiq small crossover, which with 277 monthly sales was the brand’s top seller by some margin.
The Kodiaq (170 units) and Octavia (153 units) followed in second and third, while the Karoq sold 131 units.
Keep in mind the all-new Octavia liftback and wagon are due within months, with the current model in runout.

Rounding out the line-up were the Fabia (71 units), which is also soon to be replaced, as well as the all-new Scala hatch (51 units) and Superb (48 units).
As noted earlier, a new Octavia is due around May – sharing its underpinnings and technology with the Mk8 Volkswagen Golf – while the remainder of the facelifted Superb range will touch down in the coming months.
Skoda Australia has also indicated it’s expecting a facelifted Kodiaq either late this year or early next, including a shift to petrol power for the currently bi-turbo diesel-powered Kodiaq RS.

We’ve also seen the release of the Kamiq 110TSI models and the Scala in January, after a lengthy stop-sale due to a recall campaign.
In January, Skoda outsold Volvo, Lexus and Land Rover – all of which were ahead of the Czech brand the same time last year.
