Skoda’s new seven-seat Kodiaq crossover has touched down in Australia with a new look, more tech, and a redesigned interior.
UPDATE, 11/02/2022 – A Skoda Australia spokesperson has confirmed the Kodiaq won’t receive certain safety and luxury features due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage.
Affected owners who have already placed an order are being credited from $1100. Drive-away pricing hasn’t been altered.
The Skoda Australia said these de-specified Kodiaq models will only be offered for “a few months” before the missing features return. You can view the full breakdown in the Safety and Standard Equipment sections.
Compared to the vehicle before it, the 2022 Kodiaq has been refined in line with Skoda models like the all-new Octavia, and packs a more luxurious interior.
The petrol-powered Kodiaq RS will follow the Style and Sportline, arriving at the end of the first quarter of 2022. Prices are up by $1000 across the board compared to those announced during August 2021.
Up front there are slimmer split headlights incorporating available Matrix LED technology, plus a more upright front grille and a new bumper.
At the rear there’s a new spoiler extending from the roofline and revised LED tail lights that are slimmer and incorporate more ‘crystalline’ details. New alloy wheel designs fill the arches, too.
While the available touchscreens still measure 8.0 inches and 9.2 inches depending on model, they run the Volkswagen Group’s latest infotainment and mapping interface with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Software updates can now be installed over the air, with wireless phone charging available in some models.
New USB-C ports are scattered throughout the cabin, and an updated 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster features as standard.
All prices are drive-away.
Both the Kodiaq Style and Sportline are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 132kW of power and 320Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmissionand all-wheel drive.
Gone is the diesel engine from the previous Kodiaq RS, replaced by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 180kW of power and 370Nm of torque.
It’s also mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Style and Sportline use a claimed 8.2L/100km on the combined cycle.
The more powerful Kodiaq RS uses a claimed 7.5L/100km.
All three models drink premium 95 RON unleaded, and have 60L fuel tanks.
The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq measures 4697mm long, 1882mm wide, and 1681mm tall. It rides on a 2791mm wheelbase.
There’s 270L of luggage space behind the third row, measured up to the headrests. Fold the third row and there’s 630L up to the rear shelf, and then 2005L up to the roof with the second and third rows folded.
The 2022 Skoda Kodiaq is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
It requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres, and Skoda offers pre-paid service plans.
A five-year/75,000km pack costs $1800, while the seven-year/105,000km pack costs $2700.
The Skoda Kodiaq has a five-star rating from ANCAP based on testing conducted in 2017.
It received an adult occupant protection score of 92 per cent, a child occupant protection score of 77 per cent, a pedestrian protection score of 62 per cent and a safety assist score of 54 per cent.
