Is Polestar preparing to reveal an updated version of its limited-edition Polestar 2 BST Edition 270?

The Swedish-Chinese carmaker and has teased what’s likely to be a new Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 on Twitter ahead of its reveal on March 21.

A short video posted on Twitter by Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath briefly shows the front and side profiles of the car.

There are gold-painted brake calipers, as well as large black alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres. All of these features are from the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270.

The company could be reinventing the BST Edition 270 to align it with the recent update the Polestar 2 received.

Polestar first revealed the modified Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 in June 2022 and only 270 examples were made, none of which came to Australia as it was built exclusively for Europe, North America and China.

Each of the models feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing total system outputs of 350kW of power and 680Nm of torque.

That’s the same power and torque as the current Polestar 2 Long Range model after it has been upgraded via a $1600 software update.

Polestar claims the BST Edition 270 handles better thanks to its 25mm lower suspension, 20 per cent stiffer shock absorbers, and a front strut bar.

The car is also fitted with Öhlins two-way adjustable dampers, which feature auxiliary adjustment chambers under the bonnet.

As recently reported, Polestar detailed a number of changes for its Tesla Model 3 rival including single-motor variants switching from front-wheel drive (FWD) to rear-wheel drive (RWD), among other alterations.

Australian customers will be able to order a 2024 Polestar 2 in the second quarter of 2023 through the Polestar Australia website. First deliveries are expected in the third quarter of this year.

The 2024 model-year update to the Polestar 2 follows very similar changes to the Volvo XC40 and C40 Recharge electric crossovers, which use the same CMA architecture and are made in the same Chinese factory.

For now we’ll have to wait and see what Polestar has in store for this potential updated version of its Polestar 2 BST Edition 270.
