A loose engine cover could lead to a vehicle fire in certain Skoda Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq models.
“Due to manufacturing issue, the engine compartment cover may become loose,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If this occurs the engine cover may move and touch the turbocharger resulting in smouldering damage or an engine bay fire.
“A vehicle fire may increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and/or damage to property.”
A similar recall notice has been issued for the T-Roc, Tiguan, Golf, Passat and Arteon from sister brand Volkswagen.
