Nissan Patrol sales totalled precisely 700 units in September, which is the best performance for the current ‘Y62’ model since launch in 2013.
The sales haul represents monthly growth of 268.4 per cent, and takes year-to-date sales to 2951 units – up 76.6 per cent.
September’s sales spike, unsurprisingly, corresponds with a lull for arch nemesis Toyota, which has the potential to drag on.
The LandCruiser 200 Series is now finished, but stock of the LandCruiser 300 Series is limited to a few demonstrators per dealership at best.
The new LandCruiser will continue be impacted by production headaches well into 2022, as detailed in greater depth here and here.
“We are delighted to report all-time high sales for the Y62 Patrol this month,” Nissan said this week.
When asked for an update on stock, Nissan replied:
“We have good levels of new Patrol stock arriving over the coming months, with a significant proportion already sold to customers.
“We strongly encourage customers to contact their local Nissan dealer to secure their order, with delivery times currently around two to three months from order.”
Nissan’s haul also comes at a time where buyers are flocking to 4x4s to help power regional getaways, with COVID impacting international travel plans.
Other big 4x4s that outperformed the market average in September included: Toyota Prado (up 165.0 per cent), Isuzu MU-X (up 203.0 per cent), Ford Everest (up 69.4 per cent), Jeep Wrangler (up 35.2 per cent), and Land Rover Defender (up 76.5 per cent).
In a bid to capitalise on its momentum and seemingly healthier supply, Nissan Australia is also working with partner Premcar on a luxurious V8 twin to the Navara Pro-4X Warrior.
Work is well underway on the Patrol Warrior off-roader. It’ll follow in the Navara Warrior’s footsteps by offering a big step up on the regular range in terms of 4×4-readiness.
