Volkswagen Group Australia is recalling 608 examples of the T-Roc, Golf, Passat, Tiguan and Arteon as there’s the possibility of an engine bay fire.
This recall affects T-Roc, Golf, Passat, Tiguan and Arteon models sold between 2021 and 2022.
“Due to manufacturing issue, the engine compartment cover may become loose,” says the company in its recall notice.
“If this occurs the engine cover may move and touch the turbocharger resulting in smouldering damage or an engine bay fire.”
A similar recall notice has also been issued for the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq from sister brand Skoda.
If you own an affected vehicle you’ll need to contact an authorised Volkswagen dealer to schedule in an appointment for a free fix.
If you have any further questions, you can call Volkswagen on 1800 504 076.
