Some Sydney hospitals are about to get a helping hand from MG.
The company is donating a fleet of its succinctly-named MG ZS crossovers to the lengthily-named South Western Sydney Local Health District.
The SUVs will support front line workers for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. They’ll be used to transport personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential medical equipment.
While many car companies – including Ford and Toyota – have pitched in and started manufacturing PPE, some other car companies have instead donated vehicles to help with the delivery of said equipment. A notable example is Rolls-Royce over in the British county of West Sussex.
The South Western Sydney Local Health District covers seven local government areas with a combined population of 966,450, though that number is expected to swell rapidly to over a million people in the next decade.
New South Wales is our country’s most populous state and, unfortunately, the one that’s seen the highest death toll as a result of COVID-19.
Of the 97 deaths in Australia due to the virus, 44 have been in NSW. The state also represents the largest number of cases, with 3047 reported. In comparison, Australia’s second most populous state, Victoria, has 1468 cases and has reported 18 deaths.
