Lexus Australia is recalling a total of 911 examples of its new-generation NX mid-size SUV and LX large SUV as a software error may stop the stability control system from automatically turning on when you start the car.
This recall affects 776 NX and 135 LX vehicles produced between November 2021 and April 2022. Specifically, it affects only NX350h, NX450+ and LX600 models.
“Under particular circumstances, a software error may cause the Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC) to not default to the ‘ON’ status when the vehicle is next started,” says the company in its recall notice.
“These circumstances are: if the VSC switch is manually turned off and the brake pedal is continuously operated between when the vehicle is shut down and then restarted; this may cause the VSC to not return to the default setting ‘ON’ status at the next ignition cycle.”
“This results in a non-compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR) 88/00.”
This recall is for the same software issue as a number of Toyota vehicles.

If you own an affected vehicle, Lexus says that you’re able to still drive your vehicle but you’ll need to contact a Lexus dealer to arrange a free software update.
Lexus expects the software update will take approximately an hour, but this depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
