    Lexus LX recalled

Lexus is recalling over a thousand LX SUVs due to an issue with the brake clutch disc inside their automatic transmission.

Lexus Australia is recalling its LX500d and LX600 SUVs as they could inadvertently creep forward.

“For involved vehicles, due to an issue in the design of a certain brake clutch disc inside the 10-speed transmission on those vehicles, the brake clutch disc may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this condition occurs when the vehicle is on a flat surface, and if the driver does not apply the brake pedal or the parking brake, it could allow a vehicle to inadvertently creep forward at a low speed (up to approximately 6 km/h), which could increase the risk of a crash.”

    • A total of 1350 vehicles are affected, produced between December 2021 and January 2024
    • The VIN list and recall notice are viewable on Lexus’ website

Lexus is contacting owners of affected vehicles via SMS, email or mail.

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact an authorised Lexus dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.

The dealer will reprogram the transmission ECU software, which will take approximately 30 minutes.

However, Lexus Australia advises that depending on the dealer’s work schedule, you may need to make your vehicle available to the dealer for longer.

The company says you can continue to drive your vehicle, but you should ensure the brake pedal is applied and the parking brake engaged when shifting into Neutral.

If you have any questions, you can contact a Lexus dealer or the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 from 8am to 6pm AEDT, Monday to Friday.
