Jeep is rolling out a diverse range of electric vehicles (EVs), one of which is a sleek, premium SUV with some heady performance figures.

The Jeep Wagoneer S will go on sale in the US in the northern autumn (September-November) of 2024, before being rolled out to other global markets.

Jeep has previously confirmed Australia will be among those markets, though it hasn’t locked in launch timing.

While the Wagoneer S name was previously referred to as a placeholder, it appears to have stuck.

What Jeep hasn’t stuck on the new SUV, however, are any badges reading ‘Jeep’. There’s not even a Wagoneer wordmark up front as seen in previous images of the model, though one features on the wheels.

Otherwise, the vehicle looks much the same as in previous renderings, as well as images taken at a dealer conference in March 2023.

A teaser video also reveals it’ll still feature a distinctive rear wing, while the teaser image shows Jeep’s trademark seven-slot grille remains illuminated.

Jeep has reiterated the vehicle will come with all-wheel drive, 447kW of power, and a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time of around 3.5 seconds.

It’ll use the same STLA Large underpinnings as the upcoming electric Jeep Recon off-roader – also confirmed for Australia – and Dodge Charger muscle car.

While Jeep says it will have “standard 4xe capability with all-terrain management”, it isn’t likely to be as singularly focused on off-road ability as the more rugged Recon – think of this instead as more of an electric counterpart to the Grand Cherokee, while the Recon is more Wrangler-esque.

Despite the name, it’s completely unrelated to the current, larger Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, which offer petrol and soon plug-in hybrid powertrains and are related to the Ram 1500.

Jeep’s first EV, the pint-sized Avenger crossover, will arrive here during the fourth quarter of 2024.
