Nith Inshore Rescue in Scotland has welcomed a new Ineos Grenadier to its fleet as a search and rescue vehicle.
According to Fleet News UK, the vehicle was funded by the Coastal Communities Fund and St John Scotland. It will be the first Grenadier used for emergency services in the United Kingdom.
This Grenadier replaces a 2004 Land Rover Defender which was recently auctioned off by Collecting Cars. Fleet News reports the emergency vehicle was revealed alongside a refurbished St John lifeboat.
“We deal with life-and-death situations, very harsh weather and challenging terrain, so when it came to evaluating the options for a new support vehicle, there were few options and the Grenadier stood out,” said secretary of Nith Inshore Rescue Peter Bryden.

“We were very impressed with the way it has been engineered and built to last, as well as how straightforward it was to convert it for this role.”
The vehicle received an extendable roof-mounted camera from search and rescue equipment provider Emergency One. It also features high-visibility emergency sticker decals and additional lighting elements.
Based on the Ineos configurator it appears the vehicle could be a Grenadier Utility Wagon Trailmaster Edition. It appears to feature additional options including a snorkel, rear access ladder, and BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tyres.
Locally, the Trailmaster Edition is priced from $122,000 before on-road costs.

Nith Inshore Rescue has 24 volunteers that handle its rescue operations. The team assists police, ambulance, Royal National Lifeboat Institution and mountain rescue services.
According to Fleet News, Nith Inshore Rescue attends an average of 30 callouts a year. The emergency service is based in Glencaple, Scotland and was founded in 1981 after a local man drowned which prompted residents to form their own rescue service.
