BMW Australia is recalling 396 examples of its all-electric iX SUV to fix a software issue with the airbag control unit.
This recall affects iX model built between 2021 and 2022.
“Due to a software issue with the airbag control unit, the airbag warning lamp and warning message may not be illuminated in the instrument cluster as intended,” said the company in its recall notice.
“If this occurs the vehicle occupants may not be alerted to the potential failure of the airbag control or pedestrian protection systems.”
It appears this particular recall is an extension of a previous iX recall from May 2022 for the exact same reason, but with more examples affected this time.
