Audi has recalled a single example of its 2020 RSQ8 due to a piston fault.
“A crack may occur on the cylinder contact surface in the engine, the piston may be damaged or seize during the vehicle’s service life,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This could cause the piston to get jammed in the cylinder, which would lead to engine damage.
“The possibility of the conrod being torn off and the crankcase being pierced, and subsequently of oil escaping, cannot be ruled out, this could result in an engine stall (loss of engine power).
“A sudden loss of engine power increases the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.”
If you’re the owner of the affected vehicle, contact your Audi dealer to organise a free inspection and repair.
Audi says your vehicle can be driven in the interim, but if you have any questions you can contact Audi Australia on 1800 50 2834.
