Xpeng is going right for the Tesla Model Y's jugular, with a base price undercutting the popular electric SUV.
The Xpeng G6 will wear a base price of just under $55,000 before on-road costs when it arrives here late in October 2024, undercutting a raft of rivals including the top-selling Tesla Model Y.
The Chinese brand’s distributor, TrueEV, has announced not only pricing for the mid-sized electric SUV, but also Xpeng’s first retail location and a partnership with an established servicing provider.
With the Standard Range priced at $54,800 before on-road costs, the Xpeng G6 undercuts the base Tesla Model Y RWD by $1100.

The Long Range is priced at $59,800 before on-road costs, or $10,100 less than the Model Y Long Range… although that particular Tesla model has all-wheel drive.
Customers who place a pre-order by October 31, 2024 at 11:59pm will receive a free home wall charger and professional installation.
The G6 compares favourably with the Model Y on range too. The Standard Range has 435km of range on the WLTP cycle, just 20km less than the Model Y RWD, while the Long Range has 570km – up 37km on the Model Y Long Range.
Xpeng’s flagship experience centre is opening at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport later this year, while TrueEV has partnered with Ultra Tune to provide servicing for the G6.
