The updated 2025 ToyotaGR86 range is arriving in local showrooms in December 2024, bringing with it a new special edition.
While some brands have increased prices of their vehicles, Toyota has kept GR86 pricing at the same point as at its launch in 2022. For 2025, it’ll still open at $43,240 before on-road costs for the GT.
Slotting atop the range is the new Limited Edition. It’s priced at $49,600 before on-road costs.

Only 86 examples will be available, all finished in Forest Shadow green, fitted with bronze 18-inch alloy wheels and offered with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
It also includes seats upholstered in black Ultrasuede with tan leather accents, while tan-coloured stitching can be found on the seats, shifter, handbrake, steering wheel and door trims.
Limited Edition variants also get as standard the Dynamic Performance Pack that’s optional on the GTS, featuring ZF Sachs dampers and red-painted Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers – double the piston count of the standard GTS.
Beyond the introduction of the Limited Edition, all GR86 grades receive various mechanical tweaks which Toyota says were “spurred by feedback from professional racing drivers”.
The shock absorbers and electric power steering have been retuned for improved handling response and a more direct feel.
All GR86 models continue to be powered by a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-four engine, which still produces 174kW of power and 250Nm of torque.
However, Toyota has revised the throttle map to give it greater response and more linear power delivery.
Automatic vehicles are now able to manually downshift at a higher rpm, which Toyota says provides greater control and power delivery, plus a “more exhilarating” engine sound.
Drive continues to be sent to the rear wheels through either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential fitted as standard.
The updates come on top of this year’s previous additions, which included the optional Dynamic Performance Pack for the GTS, and standard autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, and automatic high-beam for manual cars.
