Skoda has revealed the next-generation Kodiaq RS hot SUV, ahead of an Australian introduction around July 2025.

Based on the latest Kodiaq, which has moved to the Volkswagen Group’s new MQB evo architecture with substantially updated technology, powertrains and design, the new Kodiaq RS benefits from a power boost and added performance.

Power comes from a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which also features in the latest VW Golf GTI, Tiguan and Skoda Octavia RS, driving all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Producing 195kW, it provides a 15kW boost over its predecessor, while torque has been bumped by 30Nm to 400Nm. Skoda claims the new Kodiaq RS can sprint to 100km/h from rest in 6.3 seconds (0.3s quicker than the old one) on its way to a top speed of 231km/h.

Skoda has fitted its new flagship family SUV with its progressive steering and its latest DCC+ adaptive chassis technology, which offers a far broader spectrum of damper settings than the previous iteration.

Various modes are on offer too, all tailoring the suspension, powertrain and handling settings – these include Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow as well as a special Off-Road mode.

The Kodiaq RS will also have its exhaust note augmented by a Dynamic Sound Boost function.

The new model is distinguished visually by typical gloss-black RS exterior styling elements like the illuminated grille frame, mirror caps, window frames and roof rails.

20-inch ‘Elias’ alloy wheels will be fitted as standard, and are exclusive to this model. Behind the large alloy wheels are red painted brake calipers.

Skoda will offer eight distinct exterior finishes for the new Kodiaq RS globally, including the new Bronx Gold Metallic.

Inside, there are two new upholstery options to choose from: RS Suedia and the optional RS Suite.

Both interiors get sports front seats with integrated head restraints and contrast red stitching.

In the Suedia version, the seats are upholstered in a leatherette and Suedia suede combination, which is also found on the dashboard and door panels.

The Suite comes with seats upholstered in natural leather, with this material also found on the dashboard and door panels.

Ahead of the driver on the RS is a three-spoke steering wheel with red stitching, steel pedals and a black interior headliner. The RS logo also features throughout, including on the touchscreen infotainment display.

Standard equipment includes a 10-inch virtual cockpit display as well as a 13-inch central touchscreen. Electric seat adjustment with heating and memory up front will be standard, as well rear heated seats. Ventilation for the front seats is available with the RS Suite interior.

Other highlights include a Canton premium sound system, keyless entry and start, Matrix LED headlights as well as the aforementioned adaptive chassis tech.

The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq RS will follow the standard range into the Australian market, with the staggered launch rollout to see the 150kW core models arrive around February and the hi-po version around July.

Further Australian details like pricing and specification will be confirmed closer to the new Kodiaq’s local arrival, but for reference the previous-gen lineup starts from just under $60,000 drive-away and tops out at $76,890 drive-away for the RS flagship.

CarExpert expects the new range will likely be positioned around the same points against their respective predecessors, though there could be some minor price increases due to the enhanced powertrains and potential for more substantial standard equipment lists.

The Skoda Kodiaq competes in the mainstream large SUV category according to VFACTS segmentation, meaning key rivals include the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento as well as the Toyota Kluger and related Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace – which will be replaced by the all-new Tayron in 2025.
