The Lexus GX off-roader will start from $116,000 before on-road costs when it arrives in Australia.

Lexus Australia has confirmed the luxury take on the Toyota Prado will be on sale next week, hitting Australian showrooms on May 21.

UPDATE, 15/05/2024 9:30am – Lexus has confirmed when the GX will arrive Down Under. We’ve updated our introduction accordingly.

When it arrives, the GX will be the 10th model on offer in Lexus showrooms. That gives the brand its biggest range since its debut in 1990, from the Yaris Cross-based LBX SUV to the LandCruiser-based LX.

Even in top-spec GX 550 Sports Luxury guise, it’s more affordable than the entry-level version of the LandCruiser 300 Series-based LX.

    Pricing

    • 2024 Lexus GX 550 Luxury: $116,000
    • 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail: $122,250
    • 2024 Lexus GX 550 Sports Luxury: $128,200

    All prices exclude on-road costs

    Drivetrains

All Lexus GX 550 variants are powered by the same 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, which produces a claimed 260kW of power and 650Nm of torque.

Drive is sent to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, which features low-range gearing and a locking centre differential.

    Efficiency

Lexus has yet to release fuel economy figures for the new GX.

    Dimensions

The 2024 Lexus GX measures 5005mm long, 2114mm wide, 1920mm tall and rides a 2850mm wheelbase.

While the Lexus GX 550 Luxury and Overtrail boast a 3500kg braked towing capacity, the Sports Luxury has a reduced capacity of 3130kg.
