The updated Kia Sorento seven-seat SUV comes with a higher price tag than the model its replaces, though there is more standard equipment and a bold new look.
The 2024 Kia Sorento range now starts at $50,680 before on-roads for the S V6 FWD, and extends to $68,590 before on-roads for the GT-Line Diesel AWD. There have been price rises of between $3030 and $3520, depending on the variant.
Nationwide drive-away pricing for the mid-life updated Sorento also starts at $54,090 drive-away for the S V6 FWD, and extends to $72,690 drive-away for the GT-Line Diesel AWD, with price rises of between $3300 and $3700, depending on the variant.
Externally, the updated Kia Sorento comes with a new EV9-inspired look, with revised headlights, grille, tail lights, and bumpers.
Inside all Sorento models now receive a shift-by-wire rotary gear selector, paddle shifters, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, as well as Kia’s latest infotainment software that supports wireless smartphone mirroring and Kia Connect online telematics.
The flagship GT-Line variant picks up a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that’s situated within the same housing as the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. All other variants make do a basic digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch LCD display.
As previously reported, the updated Kia Sorento is powered by a range of carryover engines – a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol, and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel.
At this stage Kia Australia hasn’t detailed the updated Kia Sorento hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

The 2024 Kia Sorento range is currently available in two different powertrains – one petrol and one diesel.
The petrol engine is a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 producing 200kW of power and 332Nm of torque. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent to the front wheels only.
The diesel engine on the other hand is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing 148kW and 440Nm. This is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
For now Kia Australia hasn’t detailed updated versions of the Sorento Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid.
2024 Kia Sorento models with the 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine have a claimed combined fuel consumption figure of 9.7 litres per 100km.
Variants with the 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine on the other hand have a claimed combined fuel consumption figure of 6.1 litres per 100km.
Petrol models can run on a minimum of 91 RON regular unleaded petrol, while all Sorento variants have a 67-litre fuel tank.
The 2024 Kia Sorento measures in at 4815mm long, 1900mm wide, and 1700mm tall, with a 2815mm wheelbase.
Boot space with all three rows of seating upright is 179 litres, which can be expanded to 608 litres with the third row folded. With both the second and third rows folded there’s 1995 litres of boot capacity.
All Sorento variants have a braked towing capacity of 2000kg and an unbraked towing capacity of 750kg.
The 2024 Kia Sorento is covered by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty like the rest of the Kia line-up.
Logbook servicing is required every 15,000km or 12 months, whichever comes first. Kia Australia hasn’t detailed service pricing for the 2024 Sorento at this stage.
The Kia Sorento was awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on testing conducted in 2020.
It received an adult occupant protection score of 82 per cent, child occupant protection score of 85 per cent, vulnerable road user protection score of 63 per cent, and safety assist score of 89 per cent.
