Chery has shed more light on the Australian lineup for its new mid-sized, seven-seat SUV.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, due in May as a rival for the Mitsubishi Outlander, will offer various features found in high-spec rivals even in its base grade.
The company has yet to release pricing, which will be announced closer to launch.
There will be three variants in the Tiggo 8 Pro Max lineup: two with front-wheel drive, one with all-wheel drive.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has yet to be tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP.

It will also feature front, front-side, front-centre, driver’s knee, rear-side, and side curtain airbags, plus a surround-view camera.
While a full list of safety equipment isn’t available, the smaller Tiggo 7 Pro offers features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic assist across the range.
All 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max models will use the same engine, available with either front- or all-wheel drive.
This is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 180kW of power at 5500rpm and 375Nm of torque between 1750 and 4000rpm.
This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max uses 8.1L/100km on the combined cycle.
In front-wheel drive guise, it emits 191g/km of CO2.
The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max measures 4720mm long, 1860mm wide and 1705mm tall on a 2710mm wheelbase.
There’s 117L of luggage space behind the third row, based on the VDA standard. This expands to 479L with the third row folded, measured to the top of the second-row seatback.
Braked towing capacity is 1300kg, while unbraked is 750kg.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max will be backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, with seven years of roadside assistance.
Seven years of capped-price servicing will be available, but pricing has yet to be announced.
