Chery has expanded its Omoda 5 range for 2024.
UPDATE, 2/7/24 – We’ve updated this article with details of the new entry-level FX and revised pricing.
A pair of more powerful GT models started reaching dealerships in January and February, featuring the same level of equipment as the erstwhile flagship EX but with a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and multi-link instead of torsion-beam rear suspension.
Apart from a different material for the centre console and some different exterior badging, however, they’re indistinguishable from the EX.
More distinguishable is the entry-level FX, which loses features like LED headlights and tail lights and leatherette upholstery to offer a price tag of $27,990 drive-away – $6000 less than the BX that used to open the range.
The FX is available to order now, though in the fine print Chery says this price is available until July 31, 2024, while stocks last.
Omoda 5 models received a new frameless rear-view mirror with auto-dimming for 2024, plus DAB+ digital radio and a more powerful 50W phone charger. The new FX goes without the frameless mirror and wireless charger.
Initially, Chery announced price increases of $1500 for the BX and $1000 for the EX, however it has subsequently revised pricing. This is detailed below.
The range will expand further in the second half of this year with the Omoda E5, an electric version of the small crossover.
