Mercedes-AMG is celebrating its 55th anniversary by launching limited-edition versions of the A45 S, CLA45 S, and G63 in Australia.
The A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55, CLA45 S 4MATIC+, and G63 Edition 55 were all revealed midway through last year but now have local pricing, as well as a confirmed on-sale date. It’s unclear at this stage when they’ll actually arrive.
They are priced as follows:
- 2023 Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55: $115,800
- 2023 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55: $136,900
- 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55: $394,991
All prices exclude on-road costs.
A Mercedes-AMG Australia spokesperson has confirmed that orders for the regular G63 are still closed. They’ve been closed now since 2021.
Orders for the G63 Edition 55 are being treated separately, they added. Existing order holders of the regular G63 will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, but G63 Edition 55 orders are essentially first in best dressed.
Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 is priced from $394,991 before on-road costs, which is $29,900 more expensive than the regular G63.
It will go on sale at Mercedes-Benz dealers and through the Mercedes-Benz online showroom on February 7. It’s unclear when customer deliveries will commence.
The AMG G63 Edition 55 gets the Night Package and Night Package II option packages as standard which include gloss black finishes for the front splitter, louvres in the outer air intakes, AMG side sill panels, belt-line trim strip, window-line trim strip, and exterior mirror housings.
The tailpipes are finished in black chrome, as is as the AMG-specific radiator grille.
There’s also heat-insulating dark tinted glass, high-gloss black model badges, matt carbon-fibre trim elements, and 22-inch forged wheels.
On the inside the G63 Edition 55 comes with an AMG Performance steering wheel in Dinamica microfibre, as well as Nappa leather upholstery finished in red and black.
Power still comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 430kW of power and 850Nm of torque.
It’s mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent to all four wheels. It can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.
Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55 is priced from $115,800 before on-road costs and will go on sale at dealers and online on February 7.
This limited-edition model is $8900 more expensive than the regular A45 S 4MATIC+, although it comes fitted with extra equipment as standard.
The A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55 is available in either Cosmos Black or Digital White metallic finishes, and features Edition exterior decals.
It comes standard with the AMG Night Package II that includes high-gloss black model badges on the boot lid and wings, along with 19-inch matte grey forged wheels.
On the inside the AMG Performance front seats are finished in two-tone red and black leather. There’s also an AMG Performance steering wheel in Dinamica microfibre with Edition 55 badges.
The AMG door sill panels come with red illuminated AMG lettering and black AMG-branded floor mats with red Edition 55 lettering.
Other exclusive features include dark brushed aluminium trim elements, black and red accents, and AMG Real Performance Sound.
The A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55 also comes with a black AMG indoor car cover emblazoned with a silver AMG logo.
Power still comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 310kW and 500Nm. It’s mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system.
Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55 is priced from $136,900 before on-road costs, which is $8900 more expensive than the regular version.
It’ll only be available in “extremely limited numbers” and will be able to purchase exclusively online from February 10.
The CLA45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55 comes with all the same features as the A45 S 4MATIC+ Edition 55, which includes the AMG Night Package II, 19-inch forged wheels, and a two-tone red and black leather interior, among others.
Power still comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 310kW and 500Nm. It’s mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system.
