Mahindra has priced the new XUV700, a new three-row SUV that replaces the defunct XUV500.
It’s on sale this week. First revealed in August 2021, its local launch was delayed due to global supply chain woes.
Compared to the XUV500 its replaces, the XUV700 is 110mm longer and has a 50mm longer wheelbase.
While its dimensions are similar to the three-row Scorpio – it’s 33mm longer but 27mm narrower – the XUV700 is quite different to its showroom-mate.
It’s a unibody SUV with seven seats and front-wheel drive – we won’t get the all-wheel drive or five-seat options here – while the Scorpio is a body-on-frame four-wheel drive SUV with six seats.
It also differs in powertrains. The XUV700 is petrol-only in Australia, while the Scorpio is diesel-only here.
The XUV700 uses McPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link setup at the rear, with frequency-selective damping.
Unlike the Scorpio, the XUV700 will come with a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) from launch, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, Smart Pilot Assist, and traffic sign recognition.
All prices are drive-away, and apply until August 31, 2023.
The 2023 Mahindra XUV700 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 149kW at 5000rpm and 380Nm between 1750 and 3000rpm.
It’s mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. All models are front-wheel drive.
The 2023 Mahindra XUV700 uses 8.3L/100km on the combined cycle. It has a 60L fuel tank.
The 2023 Mahindra XUV700 measures 4695mm long, 1890mm wide and 1755mm tall on a 2750mm wheelbase.
It has 196mm of ground clearance and a gross vehicle mass of 2357kg, with kerb weight ranging from 1829kg in the AX7 to 1835kg in the AX7L.
Braked towing capacity is 1500kg and unbraked is 750kg.
The Mahindra XUV700 is backed by a seven-year, 150,000km warranty with seven years of roadside assist. Servicing is required every 12 months or 10,000km.
Mahindra offers four years of capped-price servicing. These first four services are capped at $357, $357, $563 and $504, respectively.
The Mahindra XUV700 has yet to be assessed by ANCAP.
