The Australian-market 2023 Hyundai Venue small SUV hasn’t yet received the facelift revealed in India, but it has received a series of updates.

    It’s available to customers now.

Prices have been increased by up to $960, with the Elite receiving the most significant hike but also the longest list of changes.

The Venue Elite becomes the latest Hyundai to receive Bluelink connectivity, which comes with a complimentary five-year subscription.

This includes automatic collision notification, voice recognition, cloud-based navigation and weather information, and the ability to sync Google or iCloud calendars with the vehicle.

You can also use the Bluelink app to remotely lock, unlock or start your vehicle and adjust the climate settings, view the remaining fuel level and the vehicle’s location, and continue your navigation journey.

Among the other features offered as part of Bluelink is a Valet Mode, where you can monitor the vehicle’s status and disable infotainment system functions while somebody else is driving your vehicle.

Base, Active and Elite trim levels carry over for 2023 but the Active manual has been axed, leaving only the base grade with the option of three pedals.

All models now have a Qi wireless phone charger as standard, as well as a 4.2-inch colour instrument cluster screen and a rear occupant alert.

The latter doesn’t use a cabin radar like some more expensive Hyundai products, instead just detecting when a rear door has been opened and prompting the driver to check the back seats before exiting the vehicle.

The steering wheel has Hyundai’s latest switchgear layout, with a customisable star button allowing you to program a preferred shortcut.

A USB-A outlet continues to be used for smartphone mirroring, but it’s joined by a USB-C outlet.

The Elite gains two USB-C charge outlets in the rear next to a small storage compartment for mobile phones, and an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror up front.

Finally, all Venue models lose their sharkfin aerial for a pole-type unit.

Stay tuned for a detailed price and specification article.

The Venue was the fourth best-selling vehicle in the VFACTS Light SUV segment in 2022 with 6440 sales, behind only the Mazda CX-3 (11,907 sales), Kia Stonic (8557 sales) and Toyota Yaris Cross (8432 sales).
