The 2023 BMW X3 is up to $5800 more expensive than it was last year, as part of a wider-range price adjustment.
This means the X3 range now starts at $81,700 before on-road costs for the sDrive20i, and extends to $175,300 before on-road costs for the M Competition.
“BMW constantly reviews its pricing structure throughout the year, taking into consideration a number of different factors,” said a BMW Australia spokesperson.
“However, we always aim to ensure our products remain appropriately positioned and represent a competitive pricing proposition in the market for our customers.”
There haven’t been any specification changes to the X3 range as part of the 2023 model year price adjustment.
The current, third-generation BMW X3 was first revealed and went on sale locally in 2017. It received a mid-life facelift last year that brought a revised exterior and interior design.
BMW sold a total of 4546 examples of the X3 last year, making it the second top-selling medium luxury SUV if you don’t add together the sales of the Mercedes-Benz GLC wagon and GLC Coupe. It was outsold by the Tesla Model Y (8717 sales).
All pricing excludes on-road costs.
The 2023 BMW X3 sDrive20i is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 135kW of power and 300Nm of torque.
It’s the only rear-wheel drive member of the X3 range, and BMW claims the X3 sDrive20i can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 8.2 seconds.
The X3 xDrive20d is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing 140kW and 400Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.0 seconds.
The X3 xDrive30i is powered by an uprated 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 185kW and 350Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.3 seconds.
The X3 xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel producing 195kW and 620Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.8 seconds.
The X3 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pairs a 135kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an 80kW/265Nm electric motor and a 12kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Total system outputs are 215kW and 420Nm, which is good for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.1 seconds.
The X3 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine producing 285kW and 500Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.8 seconds.
Finally, the X3 M Competition is powered by an uprated 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine producing 375kW and 650Nm, good for a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
All models use an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
The 2023 BMW X3 range has the following claimed combined fuel consumption figures:

The boot measures in at 550L with all five seats in place, and expands to 1600L with them folded, though the X3 xDrive30e offers a little less space due to the battery mounted under the boot floor – BMW quotes figures of 450L/1500L.
