The Toyota Fortuner has received some additional equipment for 2022, with the Crusade receiving the lion’s share.
The updated model is set to arrive in Australian showrooms in October 2021.
The flagship variant in Toyota’s oft-overlooked off-roader range gains a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
These join existing active safety and driver assist features like autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
The Crusade, along with the mid-range GXL, also gains dual-zone climate control.
Like Toyota recently announced for the Granvia, HiAce and HiLux, the Fortuner range receives Toyota Connected Services.
This includes an SOS button that can dial emergency services, plus a stolen vehicle tracking service.
The base GX also now includes a control for the illumination of the instrument cluster.
Prices are up slightly, with the Crusade seeing the biggest increase. It’s now priced at $62,945 before on-road costs, an increase of $1535.
To the end of July 2021, Ford and Mitsubishi have sold around twice as many Everest and Pajero Sport models as Toyota has the Fortuner.
The Isuzu MU-X is the best-selling ute-based SUV, though the Toyota Prado is Australia’s favourite large SUV by far.
