Mercedes-Benz has tripled the number of large AMG 63 SUVs in Australia, with the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S and GLS63 joining the GLE63 S Coupe.
High-performance AMG 63 versions of the Mercedes-Benz GLE wagon and GLS are now available, joining the GLE63 S Coupe introduced earlier this year.
Deliveries of the two new AMG models will begin later this month.
Like its coupe counterpart, Mercedes-AMG will offer its fettled GLE wagon with the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine only in GLE63 S guise.
All prices exclude on-road costs.
Both the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S and GLS63 use a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 450kW of power and 850Nm of torque, mated exclusively to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The twin-turbo V8 also includes a 48V mild-hybrid system that can provide an extra 16kW and 250Nm in short bursts.
The GLE63 S does the 0-100km/h dash in just 3.8 seconds, while the GLS63 takes 4.2 seconds.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe uses 12.6L/100km on the combined cycle, while the GLE63 S wagon uses 12.4L/100km and the GLS63 uses 13L/100km.
All models require 98RON premium unleaded fuel.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S measures 4954mm long, 1782mm tall and 2157mm wide, including the exterior mirrors. The GLE63 S Coupe measures 4961mm long, 1720mm tall and 2156mm wide.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS63 measures 5243mm long, 1836mm tall and 2157mm wide.
The GLE has 630L of luggage space behind the second row and the GLE Coupe has 655L, expanding to 2055L and 1790L, respectively, with all rear seats folded.
The GLS has 355L of luggage space, increasing to 890L with the third row folded and 2400L with the second row folded.
All Mercedes-AMG 63 models require servicing every 12 months or 20,000km, whichever comes first.
Mercedes offers three-, four- and five-year servicing plans, which cost $3050, $4000 and $4550, respectively.
All models are covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE has a five-star rating from ANCAP based on testing in 2019, though the related GLE Coupe and GLS are technically unrated by ANCAP and Euro NCAP.
The GLE wagon received scores of 91 per cent for adult occupant protection, 92 per cent for children, 78 per cent for vulnerable road users, and 79 per cent for safety assist.
