The Chevrolet Silverado is determined to not be one of the utes the Ram 1500 “eats for breakfast”, with GM Specialty Vehicles adding a rugged, off-road variant for 2021.
Orders are open now for the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss, with deliveries beginning in the third quarter of 2021.
It’s priced at $106,990 before on-road costs, slotting in under the LTZ Premium that’s priced at $114,990 before on-road costs.
Both models are imported from the USA and remanufactured in right-hand drive by Walkinshaw Automotive Group in Clayton, Victoria.
Like the LTZ Premium, the LT Trail Boss packs a naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre petrol V8 engine producing 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
There’s a factory-fitted suspension lift kit, which increases ride height by 25mm at the front and 30mm at the rear.
Also standard are Rancho monotube shocks, a mechanical locking rear differential, skid plates, and a heavy-duty air filter.
The LT Trail Boss swaps the shiny 20-inch chrome alloys of the LTZ Premium for 18-inch ones with a black finish, matching the black grille bar and bumpers.
It misses out on the LTZ Premium’s autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera.
All prices exclude on-road costs.
