The 2020 Suzuki Ignis is available in two trim levels with prices ranging from $16,690 before on-road costs for the base Ignis GL manual to $18,990 before on-road costs for the Ignis GLX auto.
Though it looks like an upright city car and comes only with front-wheel drive, Suzuki markets the Ignis as an SUV. That makes it Australia’s cheapest SUV, undercutting the much larger Chinese Haval H2 by over $2000.
It also means the Ignis doesn’t really have any direct rivals.
All prices exclude on-road costs
The 2020 Suzuki Ignis comes with a naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine producing 66kW and 120Nm. It’s mated to either a five-speed manual transmission in the GL or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in the GLX.
The 2020 Suzuki Ignis consumes 4.7L/100km on the combined cycle with the manual transmission and 4.9L/100km with the CVT.
It runs on 91RON regular unleaded fuel.
The 2020 Suzuki Ignis measures 3700mm long, 1595mm tall and 1660mm wide.
The Suzuki Ignis’s total luggage space is 271L in the GL and 264L in the GLX, increasing to 1101L and 1104L, respectively, with the rear seats folded.
The Suzuki Ignis has yet to be tested by ANCAP.
All 2020 Suzuki Ignis models come standard with anti-lock brakes, and front, front-side and curtain airbags but there’s no active safety technology like autonomous emergency braking (AEB).
Suzuki recently revealed a facelifted version for the Japanese market that adds AEB and lane-departure warning. We don’t yet know when it’s coming here and if the Australian-market Ignis will receive that equipment.
The base 2020 Suzuki Ignis GL comes with the following standard features:
The Ignis GLX adds:
The 2020 Suzuki Ignis requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.
In addition to its five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, Suzuki offers five years of capped-price servicing for the Ignis. The average service cost each year is $293.
