Mazda is recalling 2668 examples of its CX-30 Astina crossover due to an issue with the power tailgate.
“The boot’s power liftgate may partially lower unexpectedly from the fully opened position when the vehicle is parked facing uphill on a slope in high ambient temperature,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the boot’s power liftgate partially lowers while a person is accessing the rear storage area of the vehicle, the liftgate may contact them, increasing the risk of injury.”
Mazda Australia says parts will become available by May 2021 and is contacting all affected customers.
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll then need to take it to a Mazda dealer for a free inspection and repair.
