The 2020 Lexus IS is available in seven different models with prices ranging from $59,340 before on-road costs for the base IS300 Luxury to $81,160 before on-road costs for the IS300h Sports Luxury.
The current generation of Lexus’s BMW 3 Series rival was first introduced in 2013 and facelifted for 2017, and a replacement is expected in the next couple of years.
Though it’s priced similarly to the newer Lexus ES, that model is front-wheel drive and comes only with a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain. The IS, conversely, is smaller and rear-wheel drive and offers both hybrid and regular petrol powertrains.
All prices exclude on-road costs
The 2020 Lexus IS300, formerly known as the IS200t, uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 180kW and 350Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Lexus IS350 uses a naturally-aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 232kW and 380Nm, also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Lexus IS300h is a hybrid, mating a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 133kW and 221Nm to a continuously-variable transmission (CVT), a nickel-metal hydride battery and an electric motor with 105kW and 300Nm. Total system output is 164kW.
The 2020 Lexus IS300 consumes 7.5L/100km on the combined cycle, while the 2020 Lexus IS350 consumes 9.5L/100km.
The most efficient powertrain, naturally, is that of the Lexus IS300h which consumes 4.9L/100km on the combined cycle.
All Lexus IS models require 95RON premium unleaded fuel.
All 2020 Lexus IS models measure 4680mm long, 1430mm tall and 1810mm wide.
All Lexus IS models have 480L of luggage space except for the IS300h, which has 450L.

That rating was based on a frontal offset score of 14.00 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Whiplash and pedestrian protection were rated Good and Good, respectively.
All 2020 Lexus IS models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning and pedestrian detection, as well as lane-departure warning, anti-lock brakes, and front, front-side, front-knee and curtain airbags.
