The 2020 Hyundai Veloster is available in three trim levels, with prices ranging from $29,490 before on-road costs for the base model, simply called Veloster, to $41,990 before on-road costs for the range-topping Turbo Premium when equipped with the optional automatic.
Based on the same platform as the Hyundai i30, the current Veloster is the second generation of its nameplate. Though a high-performance Veloster N featuring the same powertrain as the i30 N is available in other markets, it isn’t sold here.

Engines
The 2020 Hyundai Veloster comes with a choice of two engines.
The base Veloster uses a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 110kW and 180Nm, mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The Turbo and Turbo Premium, as their names suggest, use a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 150kW and 265Nm.
Turbo models offer a choice between a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Fuel Economy
The base 2020 Hyundai Veloster consumes 7.0L/100km on the combined cycle equipped with the standard six-speed manual. With the optional six-speed auto, that rises to 7.1L/100km.
The Veloster Turbo and Turbo Premium consume 7.3L/100km when equipped with the six-speed manual but only 6.9L/100km with the optional dual-clutch automatic.
Dimensions
The 2020 Hyundai Veloster measures 4240mm long, 1399mm tall and 1800mm wide.
The Hyundai Veloster’s total luggage space is 303L, or 1081L with the rear seats folded.
Safety
The current generation Hyundai Veloster only arrived in Australia in late 2019 and hasn’t been tested by ANCAP yet.
All 2020 Hyundai Veloster models come standard with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with forward-collision warning, as well as lane-keeping assist, anti-lock brakes and front, front-side and curtain airbags.
Turbo models with the dual-clutch automatic add a more sophisticated AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, while both manual and automatic models add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2020 Hyundai Veloster requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, while the Veloster Turbo requires servicing every 12 months or 10,000km.
Hyundai offers a Lifetime Service Plan with capped-price services over the course of the Veloster’s five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
The average cost of a service over this period is $332 for the base Veloster and $314 for the turbocharged models.
