Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 2011-2019 G300 models to fix a problem with the steering column switch.
According to the company, the contacts on the steering column switch could be impaired by sand. If sand settles, it could create more electrical resistance, creating heat that may deform the plastic plug housing of the headlight contacts.
If the headlight contacts separate, the headlights will fail. Without headlights, the vehicle is at higher risk of accident or injury to occupants and other road users.
Mercedes-Benz Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix.
